City Overview

The Northern Beaches is situated north of Sydney approximately 30km from Sydney’s CBD and has a population of nearly 260,000. Known as “the Insular Peninsula” to the locals it delivers a perfect balance of beach culture with a relaxed lifestyle and beautiful ocean views. With it’s warm climate throughout most of the year and its beautiful beaches along the northern coastline, the area is popular for its outdoor lifestyle attracting visitors from around the world. The Northern Beaches encompasses the coastal suburbs in the north of New South Wales close to the Pacific Coast and suburbs south up to the inlet of Sydney Harbour. The area was once home to the Garigal indigenous people.

The region has much to offer in shopping with a diverse blend of retail outlets and beachside shopping. The Manly Corso set in the pedestrian mall right across from Manly Beach offers an eclectic mix of shopping, entertainment, pubs, galleries and cafes. The area is home to a large number of popular markets such as the Beaches Market at Pittwater every Friday or the Palm Beach Markets open every 4th Sunday of the month, where you can grab yourself a bargain on handmade arts and crafts, fashion, jewellery or buy organic and conventional fresh farm produce.
