The Variety Bash started in 1985 when entrepreneur and adventurer Dick Smith took a group of intrepid motorists from Bourke NSW to Burketown QLD in old cars, raising $250,000.00 for Charity.  

The 2021 NSW Variety Bash raised over $1,000,000.00 for the Charity with over 100 cars travelling from Newcastle to Marree, Lightning Ridge, Gunnedah, Armidale and the Hunter Valley mostly on dirt roads.

Variety – the Children's Charity helps children and their families with financial support for things like wheelchairs, specialist equipment, therapy, and medical supplies, when they can't afford it, and when government assistance isn't available.

Join one of the famous motoring events – travel the outback in a 30 year old car in the B to B Bash or the NSW Bash, hit the dirt tracks on the 4WD Adventure or jump on your bike for the Postie Dash!

If you want to raise money for sick and disadvantage kids, meet new friends, travel around outback Australia, dress up and just have fun then the Variety Bash is for you. All you need is an old car and some enthusiasm, a love for meeting new people and having fun, somewhere to keep your old car and a great attitude.

I have a Storage unit at Kennards Self Storage Mayfield, that I keep my Bash car in, this also provides me with space to keep spare parts, dress up costumes, and give aways that I collect though the year and take on the Bash to give out to kids at each school we stop at. I pack and store all my items for the Variety Bash in Moving Boxes that Kennards Self Storage have available. I can do repairs to the car there, there is 24 hour access, I also received a months free insurance. The Staff are great and the Centre is conveniently located at 22 Frith Street Mayfield.
