Our office, in the bustling hub that is Macquarie Park, Sydney had become a ghost town. Streets lined with office complexes were empty, team members told to hand in the their access passes or to stay home until further notice. It was out of this world!

The Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) report from the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research is the result of three consecutive years’ survey covering 7,682 households and 19,914 individuals, with adult members of each household interviewed annually. The report shows that 25.3 per cent of the people who were interviewed in all three years had moved house at least once since their first interview in 2001.The overall average time spent at the current address is about ten years, but people between the ages of 20 and 35 stay in the same place for shorter periods than older people. The average length of time for a 25 to 34 year old to stay in one home is around four years, compared to approximately 20 years for those over the age of 65.The HILDA Survey shows that frequency of moving house is related mainly to income, age and whether children are part of the household.

Big Changes Are Coming!

Kennards Self Storage are excited to confirm that we are undertaking a significant expansion and improvement of our 565 Woodville Road Guildford storage centre.

Located in the heart of the Cumberland council district in western Sydney; the Kennards Self Storage Guildford centre was one of our first dedicated centres built. And one of the first our, at the time very young CEO Sam Kennard had a hand in building.

The centre opened in 1984 with around 540 storage spaces. At the time, secure gate access, hoist access to upper levels and smooth glide roller doors were an innovation. Sometime later Kennards Hire relocated from the south-western yard on the corner permitting the use of the space for larger vehicle and container storage.
