A former Australian Government Drug Testing Laboratory has been acquired by Kennards Self Storage.
Located in Sydney’s leafy Northern Suburb of Pymble, the property has approximately 6,000 metres of building on 12,000 square metres of land.
The property was sold by Receivers in 2013 after a marketing campaign to find buyers. The Government sold the property several years ago, but the buyers later went into receivership which saw the property offered to the market in 2013.
Kennards were successful in the acquisition and have since been granted consent by Ku-ring-gai Council, to convert the property into a self storage centre.
Kennards Self Storage have identified the Pymble area as a gap in the Sydney self storage market. After a couple of previously unsuccessful attempts to secure a presence in the area, this acquisition fulfils their strategy to serve this market.
Commercial land is very tightly held and constrained in supply in Sydney’s upper North Shore. This has made obtaining a site for Kennards to use very difficult.
The first stage involves fitout within the existing building and will offer approximately 450 spaces.
Later stages will involve building on terraces and concrete roof areas, as well as a new 3 level building on the existing car park.
The centre will boast the typical Kennards quality service features and security systems. These include: Wifi, meeting rooms, hot desk, forklift, 24 hour access, delivery concierge and individually alarmed spaces and digital CCTV surveillance.
When fully developed the centre will have approximately 1,000 spaces.
