HUG – Helping Ugandan Generations, established in 2008, supporting the families of Uganda with aid such as clothes, scholastic materials and toys, assisting villages and children where there is no government support or aid.
Cate Altamura founder of HUG first realised the severity of poverty throughout this country when travelling as a journalist, visiting Uganda to cover a story on orphanages and developing communities. On her return to Australia she was compelled to raise awareness about what she had experienced. Cates determination and overwhelming response from the public saw over one tonne of aid sent to Uganda.
HUG understands that education is vital and the long-term goals are to build schools and dormitories in Uganda. In the interim HUG is raising funds to pay for full-time teachers at a makeshift school in Makindye, Uganda.
Cate approached Kennards Self Storage some years back about the possibility of donated space to store donated goods for shipping to Uganda. We are proud to be able to support Cate and her initiatives and will continue to donate space for this worthwhile cause.
