In the 1980s, Kennards Self Storage founder Neville Kennard discovered an old, derelict and neglected wool store building on Hunter Street in Newcastle. Seeing its potential for a new life as a storage facility, he quickly acquired and transformed the site into a self storage centre.

The response from customers was overwhelmingly positive, driving the expansion of the facility with modern additions and upgraded amenities.

Today, Kennards Self Storage at Hunter Street, Newcastle West is regarded as one of the preferred storage solutions for businesses and residents throughout the Newcastle CBD and surrounding areas. Offering spaces as small as 1 cubic metre up to much larger Mini Warehouses over 30 square metres.

Personal Deposit Boxes and Firearm Storage are also available for rent, offering security features that exceed those of standard self storage. Alongside state-of-the-art CCTV surveillance, the room is alarmed with back-to-base monitoring and individually zoned security systems. Located within a secure vault room and individually secured by the customer. Access to both the vault and Personal Deposit Boxes is time-controlled, allowing entry for one customer at a time for added privacy and security.
